MARLOO MERRIMENT and GAMES

During the busy winter months the owners organise
a Sunday Night get together at the 'Bamboo Hut', consisting of a
few drinks around the camp fire, followed by a BBQ and then some
light entertainment of poems, songs, stories etc. Several yummy
salads and fried onions are provided as well as tea & coffee.
Guests bring their own drinks and meat and we encourage people to
participate and share their musical or story telling skills. We
try to have a theme each week such as "Christmas In July",
Australiana, Country & Western, Irish etc.
One night per week is set aside for games such as
quiz nights, darts, bingo etc. where small prizes are provided and
tea & coffee is served.
A 'one day' raffle is conducted each week, the prize
being one week's site fees. This is usually drawn at the Sunday
night sing-a-long.
CARNARVON SUNSETS
For the photographic conscious visitor, we can offer
some of the best sunsets (and sunrises) you have ever seen. From
many locations within the park you can get a fantastic vista of
the setting sun in all it's colourful glory, or drive down to the
Fascine (foreshore) with an evening picnic to relax under the romantic
evening sky.
Carnarvon night skies are renowned worldwide for their
clarity. Star gazers and astronomers alike can achieve the ultimate
in viewing areas of the night sky.
FLORA and FAUNA
Where possible we have strived to maintain a natural
setting. Large gum trees and Broome rain trees harbour an array
of bird life including the Tawny Frog-mouthed Owl, Western Galah,
Western Corella, Butcher Birds, Pee Wees, Zebra Finch, Bush Canaries,
Honey Eaters, Crows, Hawks and more. We maintain bird baths around
the park to encourage them. Friendly lizards such as tiny dragons,
blue tongues, bobtails and geckos can be seen from time to time.
At Marloo we have cultured a thriving garden of 'moon flowers' which
are only out at night.
Many guests will awaken in the midnight hours to go
to the ablution block gardens and view these huge floral specimens
in their full beauty. We have an abundance of butterflies and dragon
flies which burst into colour around you as you walk the pathways.
There are many areas in and around Carnarvon where wild flowers
grow in profusion during the August to October season.
